Courage Can Be Scary

Courage, just like responsibility, it can be a scary word. Courage is the ability to do something that frightens one. It also means strength in the face of pain or grief. The one I like most is… the mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty. As Christians, we need spiritual strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty.

So, with that in mind, we must consider Joshua 1:9 (ERV)

Remember, I commanded you to be strong and brave. Don’t be afraid, because the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

So, as we go on this journey, we must have the spiritual strength to keep going, do new things, meet different people, step out on faith, and do something different. God is calling us to be courageous on this journey… So... as Miss Frizzle from the Magic School Bus would say… TAKE CHANCES, MAKE MISTAKES, AND GET MESSY!

Responsibility is Scary

Responsibility, a scary word at times, but we must focus on what it means for us. Responsibility means that we have a duty to do something or a duty to manage someone or something. Duty is defined as a task or action that you must perform. So, if we remember that we are performing a task or taking an action when we are responsible, it is not as scary.

On this journey, we will have many responsibilities, some that come to mind is how we manage our time, our gifts talents, and our treasure. One other one, is how we manage our relationships. We must rely on the Holy Spirit to help us.

Remembering 2 Timothy 1:14 (NASB) is key to focusing on doing the right tasks and actions to complete our responsibilities.

“Protect, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you.”

Remember, you are asked to take care of everything that God has given you as you go on this journey. Be an excellent steward and manage them well.

Bring A Friend

Being on a journey required us to have some friends with us. Think about this, Jesus had a group of friends, disciples, comrades, and people that He walked with every day. In fact, He rolled 12 deep. He had people with Him to help Him. We need people to help us as well.

Find an accountability partner to help you on this journey. This is someone who can pray with and for you. Someone you can talk to. Someone who can give you advice. Someone who can just be there for you when you need them. But, this person must be wise and godly.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NASB) tells us… Therefore encourage one another and build one another up… this is key for us to remember as we walk with Christ… Be a blessing and allow others to bless you.

Find a godly wise friend who can join you on your journey.

Just Listen (God Will Lead You)

No, it is not Friday, but I just wanted to drop this in your spirit because God dropped it in my spirit.

This year, the theme for the church is embracing the journey. We are focusing on walking through this Christian life, knowing that it is a journey in and through Christ. As we go through this journey, we must follow God’s leading.

Isaiah 30:21 (NASB) says… “Your ears will hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left. So, we must pray, read God’s Word, and listen to God’s instruction as we walk this daily life.

We are on a journey and we will embrace it and enjoy each moment, event, and destination.

Understanding Biblically How to Embrace the Journey

I am so excited to embark on this journey of Understanding Biblically How to Embrace the Journey that you are on in Christ. @ggbc-edmond.

Greetings friends! Over the next month, I'm going to be discussing how to Biblically embrace the journey. This is a journey that each of us is on, and it’s important to take a step back and remember the big picture. This can be a challenging thing to do in our busy lives, but it’s vital that we make time for it.

I'll be exploring what it means to Biblically embrace the journey. I’ll look at Bible passages that can help guide us, and will reflect on how we can use our faith to make the most of our lives.

I’ll also be discussing practical ways to incorporate Biblical principles into our everyday lives. So join us as we take a look at how to Biblically embrace the journey over the next month!

Greeting from Pastor Coran Newton

Dear Members,

I greet you gladly in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ. I am excited about this year at Greater Glory.

I must admit, though, when pastor told the leadership team that the focus this year would be Embracing the Journey, I did not understand it fully. But, after pastor walked us through what the Lord had given him in this season, I understood and became excited to be a part of this journey.

As we have done for the past 16 years, the Bible Reading Plan Committee has put together a yearly reading plan that will walk us through this journey in a way that will embrace the journey and help you see where God wants to lead you.

When my wife and I first approached pastor and the church with the idea of Bible Plans, we received a good response. And in the past few years when we encouraged the church to write out the scripture verses, the body responded well. It has been great. This year, we plan to have some classes and groups where we can explore writing the scriptures in various ways. We hope that you all will join us to learn how to dig deeper in the Word of God.

My pray this year is… God let the journey my family and I are on bless us and minister to others. And, if each of you will pray the same thing, I know 2022 will be an amazing year.

I am looking forward to walking through my journey, the church’s journey, and your journey together.

Be blessed in Christ.

The Power of Spiritual Fervor: A Journey Through Romans 12:11

Each my family and I choose words for the year.  This practice solidifies our intention for the year.  This year I have chosen the word "fervor," and I am ready to embrace the journey to see what God has for me and my family, as well as grow in my purpose.

In a world filled with chaos and uncertainty, it is often difficult to find the strength to press forward. But as Christians, we have a source of steadfast resolve - the power of spiritual fervor. Romans 12:11 reminds us to "Never give up. Eagerly follow the Holy Spirit's leading in every part of your life." This verse is a call to action, urging us to immerse ourselves in the presence of the Lord and allow His Spirit to guide us on our journey.

The phrase "eagerly follow" suggests that spiritual fervor is not just a passive state of being, but a proactive, enthusiastic pursuit of the Lord. It is a relentless desire to know Him more deeply and to walk in step with His will. This type of fervor can only come from a heart that is fully surrendered to God. When we give Him control of our lives, we open ourselves up to the transformative power of His Spirit, allowing Him to work in us and through us in ways we never thought possible.

So, let us strive to cultivate this spiritual fervor within ourselves, eager to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in every aspect of our lives. Whether it be in our relationships, careers, or daily routines, let us remain steadfast in our devotion to the Lord. For it is in this fervor that we find true peace and purpose, and it is through this fervor that we bring glory to His name. So, let us press on with eager hearts, surrendered to the power of the Holy Spirit, and always striving to serve the Lord with spiritual fervor.

Let us not be sluggish when diligence is required, but serve the Lord with passionate zeal and fervor, for in doing so we fulfill our purpose and bring glory to His name.
